I just received my Matrix modchip in the mail today and all of a sudden I did not know what to do. I got stuck. All these questions started comming into my head. I am thinking of sending the xbox along with the modchip via mail to a place where they will install the modchip for me. Then I thought of something...I'd have to flash the chip before I send it right??? What about evox, then? When does that come in the picture? Also, I never learned how to position the moschip in order to flash it. I want to build a switch for it too. When should I do that and how? Help me out please if you can. Thank you very much.

Holy crap man... slow down a second. Why don't you figure out how to flash your modchip first... those directions can be found right on xodus page, then try installing it in your xbox, don't send it to anyone, you're wasting your time, read this page to determine what version of xbox you have http://www.xbox-scene.com/versions.php and dig in, you have the easiest modchip to fit on the market, you can do it, you just need to settle down.

Why would one send in the Matrix to be installed when you can install yourself? You do not need to solder remember.

I suggust getting it sent to someone to install it for you, look under Modchip installers at these forums, they will probaly do everything for you (flashing etc.) for about $30.

First, take a deep breath and don't have a panic attack.
You could send it out to be fitted but I'm sure that whoever you sent it to would laugh REALLY loud all the way to the bank as the Matrix is a no-solder chip.
Before I proceed I would like to point out that all the answers that you are looking for is on the tutorial section of the main page. You should REALLY do a search before posting as most questions like this gets hammered pretty hard and you are made to feel not that bright or just plain lazy; That being said I'll continue.
If you need step by step directions exodus-chip.com (the manufacturer of the chip) has an installation video AND downloable directions on how to install and configure the chip. Be sure to do both as the video only shows you how to install the chip. The manual will explain on how to get it up and running.
If you also bought the matrix programmer you can pre-program the matrix with the bios of your choice so you won't need to rely on the cromwell bios to flash it for you upon the install.
As far as EvoX is concerned there are too many really good tutorials on this site that you can find and would do more justice then I can.
Also learning to install the matrix is part of the fun. Read and enjoy!
Good luck

Its not a good idea to get a matrix if your not going to do the install.

Ok, I am fairly new here and I had the same exact questions you have. But the only difference is that I did research and ONLY asked questions that I could not understand. First you need to go read the tutorials on XS, they will explain most of your questions. Second, I understand your situation and will provide you with the order in which to mod your Xbox.

1. Modchip with bios that allows hhd swapping.
2. since you have a Matrix modchip it will be very easy to install it yourself. Go to XS or got
to www.easybuy200.com and click on the matrix modchip and there is a tutorial there.
3. find Evox dashboard and burn it to CD-RW or DVD-R as an xISO.
4. verify modchip is correctly installed and load CD-RW/DVD-R, if you installed the modchip
correctly and burned the xISO you should instantly know if you done it correctly when
the Xbox dash appears and below the big green "X" it says "Matrix Inside".
5. FTP everything in the original Xbox hhd, make a backup copy of C/D drive. FTP back
everything back into the new hhd.
6. Now you have a perfectly modded Xbox and you just need to load the applications you
want.

Of course this is just a general step-by-step process and every step can be found in the tutorial section of XS. Good luck and enjoy, trust me when I say you will feel a "Xstatic" when you accomplish this yourself. beerchug.gif

Hey thank you very much. I have one quick question. What type of file would I be downloading if I were to download Evox? I found a .rar on DC. I need to change that into an image right?
