Is there another way to flash a chip other than using a motherboard?????

My MB does not have a removable bios chip....

Will a 28 pin chip work, or does it have to be a 32 pin chip??????

TIA

As Fliudmax says the chip has to be 32 pin and unless you have a programmer of some description then you wont be able to program the chip if you motherboard doesnt support it.

Be aware that most of the commonly available cheap programmers normally used for PIC microprocessor programming do not support the 27 and 29 series chips that you need.

If you are thinking of buying a programmer be sure to read the supported device spec sheet carefully.

I anyone knows of a cheap, readily available programmer for these devices I'd really like to hear about it.

yes, the batronix programmer, it cost me $69.20 to United States. Took 10 days in shipping, and is very nice programmer.

The kit is 37.20
ZIF socket is 9.00
PLCC to PDIP socket 15.00
shipping to US 8.00
= 69.20

Its a kit, which is very very simple to put together.
I have pictures of the kit before I assembled it here

It doesnt support alot of chips, but does the job =)

not tried it but it seems to be a 32 pin programmer and it's only around £12. smile.gif Thinking of making one myself smile.gif
