Hi I was wondering since I've searched and I dint find any similar topics,
if anybody has the same problem as me or know how to get it fixed...

In xbmp 2.3 whenever I choose view as icons in the menu I get lag when i scroll down
or back up even if there isnt any images to display..

I really like the Icons feature and the thumbnails browsing but it takes so much time
skipping its not even worth it..

Funny thing is I have another xbox same setup but not the same problem,
thought maybe the reason was that the disk could be very fragmented,
but the xbox that runs fine has even lower space on it and is probably more fragmented

Any solutions or advice ???

First upgrade to 2.4 you won't be able to get support for an older version since many bugs will have been fixed in the newest version.

Automatic Games Icons take approx 10-15 seconds on a 120 gig using 2.4 I have tested on lots of boxes (new & old) all the same
Hopefully this will be sorted as it is a worthy feature but taking so long means it has to be turned off.. Also their have been No CVS builds for a while any ideas ?

New cvs build was released just the other day, available in the usual places

On my box it's taking about 5-6 seconds to display game icons, but then I only have 10 games installed.

Agreed, it's something that needs to be worked on.

dont know anything about running games
from xbmp though, I usueally run them from evox..

Only had problems with my music and my videos when i choose view as list,
Ill try out 2.4 tho and see if it can do any better

I've only just tried adding thumbnails for music. So again I've only got about 10 albums there. These load pretty much intsantly on the newest 2.4 cvs.

I have somewhere around 35 cds with thumbnails and it takes like 3 seconds to show them.
For games I got about 35 and usually it takes around 60 seconds to get all the icons.

Flatspot you seem to have the same problem as me, are you alos running 2.3 or 2.4cvs?

I tried to install 2.4 but i doesnt work right, all i get is a empty menu with a start button only that freezes mp when i press it and a empty button that takes me to General settings without any options...

The thumbnail side of things I would love to see re-written, may be have the List view but with a much larger Icon appearing to the side of the listing once selected, (much like Avalanch I guess!) keep the Icon view aswell but maybe this should be 3 icons acoss instead of four then they could be slightly larger aswell.. just a thought.

This would make it easier for me too see what games I was choosing especially after a few beers & smoke. For now i`ll have to keep squinting or get out a loan for a 50" plasma.. XBMP still rules IMHO..
