I just subscribed seven days ago to usenetserver.com based on some people's opinion on this board. However, they have been plagued with slow transfer speeds and timeouts.
Anyone else having the same problem. I can't download 10 megs without it timing out. I'm considering going somewhere else. $15/month, rediculous.

Shit son, I was just registering with them when i came here cuz i remember hearing people saying it was good, high d/l speeds, great completion/retention. So i wanted to re-read what people said. Ive been using my ISP's server and it is crap. So does anyone know where to get a decent server with high completion and good tranfer speeds?

I have no problem at all with usenetserver.com. I have been a subscriber for almost a year i think. What software are you using to connect to the server? Try grabit. Its very user friendly. There are also help forums too.

It's terrible. I wouldnt be so picky if it were free, but hell, im paying for this crappy service.. Its half of my cell phone service.
I'll give them a week before I cancel. I'll look for something better in the meantime.
I've been using Newsbin Pro v4.11 Build 4276 - Its the one they suggest to use.

Try grabit and only use 6 threads to download stuff.

hey kejoriv,
Im on adsl using Grabit as my newsreader and i can only get 3 threads downloading. Do you know if this a limit of the server or of dsl? Right now i use a shitty free ISP newsserver. I decided to register with usenetserver.com. You get fast downloads? Good completion/retention?

I am thinking its your Isp that is messing everything up. I can download 6 things at once. Try to use this program on your friends computer who has a different isp and see if that makes a difference. it should. Fast downloads. Fairly good retention rates. and very good completion.

I haven't had any problem with usenetserver and I use it everyday. I only do 2 connections at a time only because my download is maxed out at that point and I really don't see a need for more than that when its not any faster. Also my speeds have been great. between 180-200k depending on network conditions. Maybe try running some traceroutes when your having trouble.

I have 6 things going at once from my client also. Usenetserver has always been great to me.

Well im registered, set up and downloading from usenetsever. And so far (15 min later) its top-notch! I found almost all the missing parts ive been begging people to post cuz my ISP newsserver didnt have them. And my download went from 90kbps to >160 kbps. Im downloading on 7 threads (the 8th thread is faded/transparent? and i cant connect to it - no biggie) So far so good.

You know, I used UseNetServer a long time ago, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I was a HUGE fan of their web-based newsserver, WebUseNet, as well.
I use neither today (WebUseNet is gone after technical issues deep sixed it, and the two servers I use offer web based interfaces)
A friend still subscribes to them, and he's always enjoyed great service.
