I have been using 2.4 complex build and it's great, but playing videos, svcd or divx, is cr*ppy on the new cvs build from xbins, is this just a problem with the build? or could it be because I'm using a pal box?

Not for me, actually it works great. BUT, when i had the crappy divx for DC, it ran worse on my friends pal DC. So it might be that.
And I have no problems with 2.4 complex either
