So that those not in the know can cut straight to the quality. Does anyone know a site that has reviews of these games?

All I can add with certainty is ANY of the Metal Slug games, so I'll kick-off with:-

Metal Slug 1, 2, 3, X

I'd like some shooters, but so far am stuck with Viewpoint (can anyone better that?)

And for sports, a decent soccer game...Soccer Brawl, though hardly done to Fifa regs!

Any advance???

Beat ém ups: Try Garou: Mark of The Wolves, (which is really Fatal Fury 4 under a different name) Art of Fighting 3, KOF2000/99, Last Blade 1/2 and Real Bout Fatal Fury Special.

Shooters: Probably Strikers 1945 Plus, but there isn't as big of a back catalogue on shooters for Neo Geo as there is for Cave / CPS2. Also try Twinkle Star Sprites, Shock Troopers 2nd Squad and Pulsar.

There are probably more that I forgot.

Yeah, shooters on Neo Geo is pretty slim pickings. Strikers 1945 Plus is pretty good, although not the best ever. Aero Fighters 2/3 are decent, but I wouldn't exactly call them great.

I'm confused though. You guys are responding like we're only talking NeoGeo? If you mean all of Kawa-X, you can add 1944 and 19XX as pretty good shooters from the CPS2 catalogue. 1944 is quite a bit better than 19XX, but both are good. 1944 is a very long shooter, though (17+ stages). Get ready for fire-button cramps or save state usage. laugh.gif

CPS2 also has Mars Matrix and Giga Wing - both are excellent shooters. Must-haves if you like shooters and Xbox emulation. smile.gif

CPS1 only has 1941, U.N. Squadron and Varth that I'd even begin to recommend. Don't go out of your way for any of the CPS1 shooters.

If you really want to break your thumbs, though, get Varth. It's over 30 stages long and takes well over an hour to complete. (Obscenely long for a shooter, mind you.)

That's it for me, I'm a shooter man. smile.gif

Hosh: Have you tried Prehistoric Isle 2 on Kawa-X? It's not quite your usual shooter.
rspektor
kof2001, samurai shodown 3, marvel vs capcom
DeadJB
King Of Fighters 2000
Mark of the Wolves
Neo Mr. Do
Dodgeball
Street Fighter Alpha 3 (It slows down quite a bit in 2 player though. ;____;)
1944

Yeah, I have. I think it's pretty so-so.. Not bad at all, really, but not all that great either. It has it's fair share of qualities (I love rescuing those little guys smile.gif), but overall, I wouldn't list it in a thread that's asking for the best games. wink.gif

But you're right, I should've included it, I just forgot. Not the best, but if Varth and Aero Fighters deserve a mention, so does PI2. smile.gif

I must be doing something wrong. The only thing I can get to work is some hacked kof2k2. But all the games that the thing is meant to play doesn't work for me. I use neo rage x on the pc and they work fine there. I went and got the winodows version of kawaks and it doesn't recognize any of these games. I just wanna play sam show 4 for cryin out loud that should be a simple one.

as for a list if i can get them to work

2020 super baseball
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
KOF 2000
Sam Show 2 & 4
Last Blade 1 & 2

can anyone help me here with this screen problem I get from using a Kawak emulator on my X-box. I enter into the game menu where I can save screenshots and other stuff, but did not realise that I could adjust the screen as well. As I meddle with the thumbsticks, the game screen eventually shifted and it went off my screen (i.e. the display is entirely black, and all i can see are the game menu items).
I have tried reset and reloading the game but there is only gameplay sound and no display (it's off the screen due to my earlier adjustment I believe). How can I get the display back to my screen again?

you could have just made your own topic ya know..
instead of bumping a 2 year old thread which doesnt even have anything to do with your problem apart from the name kawa-x.

why are you even using kawax? its horribly outdated and like you just found out, its full of bugs that never got fixed.

get fba-xxx and learn how to update your romsets.
