I have my xbox all modded up with a matrix and 120 GB unlocked Maxtor. I don't have any desire to lock the harddrive and install a modchip switch just to play Live. I see that X-Link Messenger allows you to use the XBL headset.
Does anyone know if I can use a regular USB headset, and if so, can it be plugged into my USB hub, or would I need to add a USB port to the controller I'd be using for the game?

Well, I was just going through gamestop.com's list of accessories, and in the next 2 months MS is going to releaset the headset without the subscription and Pelican is going to offer a wireless solution. I would still to like to built one myself though, and would appreciate some feedback.
