I am using a multimeter to check if my soldered points are correct. This is my method.......I stuck a paper clip in the little black thing with holes in it (you would use this if you did the pogo pin or header pin install) and then i checked which hole went to which wire. I found a hole that beeped with each wire except d0 (even a hole corresponded with the ground). So i'm guessng that d0 is not correctly soldered, but when i touch ground with one end of the multimeter and then d0 with the other end of the multimeter a beep sounds telling me there's a connection. but when i slide the mod chip to off there is no beep. is this supposed to happen?

Yeah I think this is the principal of how an LPC modchip works. It skips the M$ bios by grounding D0

Okay so if every point is okay, then why doesn't my chip boot up the Flash BIOS Cromwell Screen?

So nobody knows uh?

your LPC soldering is bad. have a nice day

Is your XBOX fragging? You need to provide a bit more information. If your XBOX frags, your D0 line is connected properly, but as mirx999 said, it's your LPC soldering otherwise.
If your XBOX does NOT FRAG on boot, then you might just be seeing typical Cromwell FlashBIOS behavior -- no video at random, or you're just booting to the RETAIL M$ BIOS, and if that is the case you'll need to re-solder D0.

Perhaps your chip does not have Cromwell on it. If you give us some information perhaps we can help. Here we are just guessing.

okay when the chip is on all the lights come on as it is supposed to and it boots 2x and then one more time and on the third time it Frags. when i turn the chip off it boots normal as if there were no chip. let me know if you need any more info. and be specific.
I'd like to thank all you guys for bein helpful in advance, i appreciate it

sounds to me like either your lpc soldering needs to be redone, or there is no bios at all on the modchip.

That's just plain silly

Agreed, if the box boots fine with the chip disbled then your d0 is good so go over your LPC points, if that's not it then you will need to find an alternate method to flash.

Don't ya think that he should also cycle through all the different banks, just in case on of them has the original bios on it?

Flipping switches off and on won't stop an XBOX from fragging -- that'll get Cromwell to post video (eventually), but it won't help a FRAG. A FRAG is caused by bad LPC soldering, or when NO BIOS (or a corrupt BIOS from a bad flash) is installed on the modchip.

okay so i'm gonna go back and re-check all of my LPC points

Well, I think that if it was originally flashed through FrashROM, then it had to be a 1MB bios and now all others are lost.

What kind of mod chip are you using x2/cheapmod lite/pro 2.0/whatever?
This might help us to help you

im having a similar problem with a 2.2 pro
i know my connection is fine because i tried other chips in there and they work fine.
with 2.2 pro it frags ( i hear this is supposed to happen...??)
so I tried biox manager but the dip switches the right way, the first 3 off and 4th on.
still gives me a 09 00 error. tried all different combinations just to see. i heard cromwell bios on 2.2 is buggy so if u turn it off and on eventually it will load but i must have done this about a hundred times and nothing.
ive spent countless hours now trying to figure it out. Also if it is disabled it does boot into m$ bios.
maybe a bad batch of chips?
