Hi.
Been messing around both with the font and audio dashboard exploits, not really being convinced with none of them, due to the following:
Fonts - disables the MS DVD player, and might cause the clock reset problem.
Could not install dvdx1 for some reason (I have a remote),
or even load the hacked MS dashboard from evox (freezed every time).
Audio - more safer, but a pain to use, with all those menu selections when starting it up.
Now, as I have MechAssault retail, I was thinking about the following:
is there a way to run a bios and evox directly from within the Mechassault
save in the hard drive, instead of just evox?
That way, the only thing I would have to do to would be to:
1. Boot up Mechassault.
2. Select 'Run linux'-save.
Bam! New kernel/bios, and Evox dashboard, with FTP server, and links to all my emu stuff in E:Apps.
When FTP-ing, this would of course require editing the Evox.ini in the gamesave
folder rather than one in the C or E root, but that is no biggie.
So, does this sound too far reached?

The audio exploit is no harder to run than the game save exploit. The only difference is that you load up an audio CD first then you go through a couple of menus. It is quicker and everyone has an audio CD laying around. The gamesave exploit requires a game (007/MA) and takes longer to load. Plus, as of now the gamesave exploit still has some bugs in it - like the reset on eject issue. The audio exploit has no problems like that, is quicker and does not require a game. I have been running it for a few weeks now with no problems and get on LIVE (with original games) without any problems. I have also modified the xboxrom.bin file to look for the dash over on the e: drive.. therefore my c: drive is untouched.

yablan,
yes this has already been done, 007 and MA both work with phoenix bios loader directly from the savegame directory (with editing of the BFM bios using XBtool) along with signing of the phoenix bios loader using xbedump -habibi. However, if you are going to use 007, you MUST start a mission in the 007 game, then exit to the menu before loading the save or the bios laoder will NOT work, you will just get a black screen. This is an excellent way to leave your C: untouched and load backups. I believe there is a tutorial in this section somewhere....

The only thing that sucks is that you won't be able to eject your DVD without resetting your xbox. Maybe Phoenix BIOS Loader v1.4 will fix this (whenever it gets released...)
