Its nice but IMO 0.95 looked nicer.

No offense but that looks nothing like 0.95 at all. That is disgusting IMO and it looks amaturish at best.. Are you sure that it is the same look as .95 or is that screen just really poor...??

That build is direct from the source code released yesterday. No changes have been made yet.

If you think it looks disgusting why dont you desing your own dashboard?

If you dont like the color, dont worry, the skins are built from .bmp's and would be simple to use just about any color you want.

With comments like that, its no wonder the original author stopped working.

Im just saying that if you have the source why does it seem the graphics have taken a step backwards? Should they just not be identical as .95 because seriously there was absolutely nothing wrong with its graphics. All it needed was working ftp and i would have been happy with it.

Just been having a tinker with the source code had to create a crappy TitleImage.bmp hehe

From what i've seen it a complex dash and for someone to say it's abit amaturish is completley wrong just check through the code and u will see that alot of work has gone into creating a replica M$ Dash. Although we are all entitled to our opinions.

Just finished off IR support. This was already in the code just wasn't called for button presses. Also noticed that there is a small bug with the FTP which is u can't create folders. u can copy files and delete them as well as rename. Thre is a small memory leak as stated in the readme that come with the source distro. Now i'm gonna have a play see what else there is and what can be done.

I don't think it's posible yet to get a auto list of emu's etc.. from the HD.

Good luck to the XdashOS on taking on this project.

Just talked to swolsten online, and that will be changed. It really wouldnt be a problem, except for newbs would be confused.

Why do people always complain? I like what one of the posters said, if you don't like it, make your own dash. It might not look all that great, but I think that is just because the red is ugly, but it looks the same to me. I think you guys need to stop tripping and let the development commence.

indeed. There is a large difference in stating constructive flaws compared to just flaming it to hell. Whats even stupider is that it was stated the the screens were taken from the newer nexgen release, and the poeple flame saying that nexgen was better.

This is the kind of crap the made the original authur stop. I cannot believe how demanding people are for something that is given free.

My comments are that green or blue looked better in my pereferance. If the color is changable, then there is no worries as I can just change it with any future release. Just please don't let morons discourage you by only flaming as I imagine that this dashboard will have great future praise when it nears completetion.

Im glad to see that someone are willing to continue working whit that dash and i am looking forward to the release.

I'd also like to say that i'm glad the top and the bottem of the background grid is not visable. That bothered me in past releases. Also, I have not tried the new version, but it would also be cool if those displays at the top (like fps) could be hidden, as it more or so ruins the gui image.

i am even developing (very early stages) a online gaming prog that can only use nexgen for the down and upload for the files cause of the ftp hack that was made back along for the 0.91c release and 0.95

hopefully this one will have the auto detect games like in mxm.

Just to update my previous post....

Fixed the FTP so now you can Create, Delete folders etc.. still some more bugs in there to fix Like the ftp commands for reboot, power off. The commands for these functions are ok as i checked them against the TEAM ASSEMBLY XKUtils library v0.2 to double check. The tray close / eject works from FTP.

what do u mean auto add items, if u mean when u put a Default.xbe in a folder and it automatically recognises it, and shows it in the specified menus (Games or Apps) the nexgen 0.95 realease that i tried out allrady did this didnt it?

it did, the new source and binary dosen't have auto add items in it, so they have to code it back in

I registered just now after viewing from the outside for some time. I think the work you guys are doing is great, and these lamers making dumb comments should go jerk off somewhere, at least its more constructive than messing with the motivation of developers.

Small Update from my tweaking...

FTP is now working with Reboot and Power Off functions. If u read my previous post all the functions for reboot and powere were correct it's just that the xbox would disconnect you before it had sent the commands. I know this isn't much but getting all these smaller bugs out of the way will save time for bigger stuff. Was very simple don't know why I couldn't see it when I checked it out earlier today. I would say that the FTP is now 97 - 98% all there and working but still needs a good testing as a Dashboard is no good without a working ftp hehe. I'll see what else I can do before I go away for the week.

I Don't know if any of this has been done yet by the XdashOS team. If so sorry for my continuous posts on the matter. Just thought I'd see what I could do / improve

As you can see in my post I stated that I am not trying to flame anyone. I was just stating my opinion on the dash. And from what I was led to believe you have the source for the uncompleted version 1.0 of nexgen. I expected this would be after the .95 release and therefore the graphics should be better.

I have nothing against this project I want it to do well and come out on top as i have been using Nexgen as my main dash for ages now and think that its awesome..

If you guys wanna flame me go ahead i don't mind but I encourage you to go and find a screenshot of the .95 nexgen dash and tell me in which direction have the graphics changed? for better or worse?

Well its the weekend now in australia & i am awake with the worst hang over ever lol i dont know if its weekend yet in the uk but hopefully if all coders work hard over the weekend we will ahve something small for people on manday no promise tho.

Pretty cool just need to add the transparencies to the clock and to the X logo (it never was 3d). Good luck guys I always favored nexgen above the rest. One small request though please add .mp3 or .wma support to the menu.

do you just want to compile the neXgen source, because in the nexgen source comes with a pre-compiled copy of the source, most of the stuff wasn't implemented. If you want to compile yourself you'll need Visual Studio 6/net (6 = 1st ver of XDK) and the Xbox Development Kit.
