Depends. Are you interested in a job with benefits where you wear a uniform, or do you actually want to be a soldier? Surprisingly, they are not the same thing.
I think you are looking in the right direction for the first sort in the army and national guard. If you actually want to do something that matters, the Marine Corps Reserve is your best bet. Plus, I guarantee it will make (more of) a man out of you.
Keep in mind that in the current climate, especially with the upcoming Iraqi rotation in a few months, there aren't ANY "weekend" jobs in the military any longer. I don't give a shit what your recruiter tells you about where you'll really be; unless you are looking at some incredibly rare field of work that only operates stateside, you run an ever larger chance of getting shipped out these days.

at this point in time with whats happening, I think the military would be last choice of things Id want to do.
The market for computer networking right now is fucking dry....Im sick of my job but theres not much else available, even though I have about three years experience and Ive done a good job at my current employer.
Your least likely chance of getting deported would be the Coast Guard.

"Deported"?
Yeah, I always forget about the Coast Guard. Good call. On the other hand, I would never want to be on either the CG or the Navy's reserve, but that's just me.

well, I'm an active duty weapons specialist, I think your best bet would be Air Force reserve, especially if you dont want to do much...Air Nat. Guard if you want to do even less. PM me cause I have alot of info on different options that you could choose...Im not a recruiter but I know what options are available.

Proof yet again, that canada is full of pussies. People that never finish the job, never get it done.

So in the um canadian military you can just quit like that? No punishment for breaking your contract or anything?
