Or you can use dvd2xbox to rip the DVD to the HDD and then (with multi-stacking turned on) watch them in XBMP. Note: a DVD is roughly 9gb.

to get it to play dvds through dvdx rather than msdash you have to change the evox.ini in the top few lines so it says dvdplayer=e:appsdvdxdefault.xbe or something like that. follow the example of the audio player which points to msdash.

You can use DVDx2 as your default DVD player. Just edit the DVD Player.cut file on c:
it probably reads: <path>Harddisk0Partition2hackdash.xbe</path>
and/or config.xbm : <dvdplayer>c:xboxdash.xbe</dvdplayer>
change it to the location where DVD2x is located. and replace it with default.xbe
To play movies in progressive scan with DVD2x (or org. ms dashboard) you have to patch it. Beware of the croma bug! clearly visible with the Xbox.

The answer is in the xbmp xml config file.... i accidently passed this over my self..
<!-- Enable to auto-launch other app(xbe) upon DVD/CD insert -->
<!-- DVD Player.cut & CD Player must be configured correctly -->
<autolaunchdvd>true</autolaunchdvd>
<dvdplayer>c:xboxdash.xbe</dvdplayer>(changed to blahblahDVDXdefault.xbe
and if im wrong then its valuable information for the next newbie with xbmp 2.4+
Ok I changed it to the correct setting...And I have it set on autolaunch dvd.... it goes like it wants to play and then goes back to the dash(evo).... you can select the dvdx program from there....is that suppose to happen....or is xbmp suppose to load dvdx automatically with out rebooting back to dash(evo) and having to manaully select it..????
cheers majin buu
i saw this but didnt want to mess with it i guess this answered my problem
i thought that xbmp had their own dvd decoder thing whatever rather than using the dashboard or dvdx2
thanks

XBMP can only play non-encrypted VOB files. Which means almost all retail DVDs are out of the question, you'll have to use MS Dash or DVDx2 for those.

Yes....I ripped the dvd using dvddecrypter and burnt it with InstantCopy but it still goes to the evo dash...I will test it later with autoplay off and do some searching

So Torro where you successful in getting a non-retail dvd to play in xbmp and how did you do it. I am figuring that instead of setting the xml file to look for dvd2 ill just leave it blank or something.... but any advice is helpful
