I transfered some mp3 to my xbox hdd, in F:/music/, in side it has 2 folders, /recordings and /shoutcast, I tried to copy mp3 directly to /music, and to /recordings, but when I reboot my xbox and go to: launch/music, i don't see any thing in there. I tried to use xbmp and find the mp3 from hdd, but I couldn't find anything. I think I need to config some thing, but what?

hey man, i'm having the same problem, but when u put ur files in the E:/Music it'll read them. I don't think the program is configured to read from the F drive cause i just upgraded my hard drive as well. I'm going to ask around to see how to reconfigure it, so if i find out i'll let you know

In the xbmp folder there is a file called config.xml. Grab this file and open it with a text editor. Its pretty straight forward. Search for the music shares. looks like this:
<share>
<name>HDD</name>
<url>e:MyMusic</url>
</share>
Edit this to show the folder you are throwing your music files in:
<share>
<name>HDD</name>
<url>f:MyMusic</url>
</share>
or whatever folder you want xbmp to look at for music files. The same can be done with the videos and pictures.

You helped me too. I had to use Word to see how the ini file was configured and it pointed to F drive so I just dropped my files in there and vwala! Had to rename mpeg file to mp3 and everything is up and running. Cool visuals! Quick question if anyone knows the answer: How do you get back to your dashboad out of XBMP without rebooting the box??
