Anybody got a solution ?

Try pushing the Menu button.. Works the same as pressing the Back button on your controller.

Do you want to get back to the dashboard? When in tha start menu of mediaplayer, try pushing right on the remote. You will have two icons under the regular menu, one of them shuts of the xbox, the other one takes you back to whatever dashboard you have configured in your xml file!

WEll that got me back to the original xbox dash - i mean the original - the one with memory/music/live/settings options..

Next question - where do i find that xml file u talked about - and what do i write in it to get back to the modded dash instead ?

The config.xml file is located in the same folder as the default.xbe of your media player. If you can't find it then look again. Look for the following part in the config.xml (open it with wordpad)

<dashboard>xboxdash.xbe</dashboard>

replace xboxdash.xbe, with the name of the xbe of the dash you are using, for instance evoxdash.xbe if you use evolution x!
