Does anyone know if I pull the 2mb tsop off the mainboard of my 1.3 can I replace it with an 8mb tsop without pooching the xbox? Would it work?

I wouldn't expect this to be too technical of a question. Does anyone have the slightest idea?

My gut tells me that it would be possible. After all, the MCPX downloads the BIOS data in the same manner from a mod chip - it just grabs it from a different source.
However, I have no technical documentation to support this.

Wouldn't be easy. The 8Mbit chips have more pins than their 2Mbit counterparts, you'd have to locate A18 and A19 (if they even exist on 1.2/1.3 boards!) and route these (plus ALL other connections) to the correct pins on the new chip.
Easier to wait for the DMS chip to be finished, that'll be a 16Mbit mod.
