Will the auto update do all that is needed and add any new XML settings or are there additional tweaks needed to be donr manually?

I've tried to search the forum, but could not find a answer...

Still get lock ups with newsflash enabled, and no APOD with new Ava 0.47.4

I'm still getting lockups after about 10 seconds in 0.47.4 with the newsfeed enabled. Running X2 4977 on Xbox v1.1

Yep locksup on me too....will turn news feeds off..

(And IP settings,DNS and everything set fine -- I ain't a network dummy)

Update:

Changed back to DHCP

Bottom left of Avalaunch when booting up will say:

Requesting DHCP
No Link! (flashes quik) then
Ip will pop on

Then NEWS will work and everything fine??

When set to STATIC IP -- locks up

Confirmed. We can either have news on or Static on but both = crash after 7-10 seconds.

I can further confirm this bug - with IP set statically and newsfeed enabled I get lockup in less than 30 seconds; disabling newsfeed yields no lockup.

Interesting... A friend of mine claims that Xtoolbox is a lot faster when it comes to Xbox-to-Xbox transferring than Avalaunch. Apparently he did side-by-side comparisons of Avalaunch 0472 and Xtoolbox (with the same file of course) and Xtoolbox gave him a transfer speed of 8Mb/s while Avalaunch gave him 4Mb/s at average.

Is this what is meant by 'sloooooooooooooow', or did Avalaunch 0473 (the initial release) have even slower transfer speeds? I don't have a second Xbox to test it - may as well let him test the new version and see if it goes any faster for him.

the news feed was a cool addition whenever it was introduced. I too however are having freezing issues with it now.

is there a fix? or do we just have to disable it at this stage?

im using static IP connected to a router BTW.

i gotta turn newsfeed off and c if it helps from locking up. it didnt start till after i ran scandisk on my f drive

I think the issue is that xtoolbox isn't run as a thread - ava is. If you poured all our functionallity into xtoolbox, speeds would drop there too Esp since it's the same code.

But we're working on a burst mode that would knock your socks off.

I suspected as much. Would it make any difference to the transfer speed if I turned off Autoplay MP3 music or lowered the amount of users allowed? (right now it's at 10)

That's something to look forward to. Suffice to say I can hardly wait.

mp3 might make a difference, and # of users logged in.... but not the max # of users, it checks the max users compared to current amount when someone logs in, thats all

wasn't able to start avalaunch (black screen and lock-up directly at boot) if a path scan was omitted in the menu entries in avalaunch.xml. Had to boot from dvd-r to make changes. ip is set statically (no dhcp running) ,apod and mp3 working (no newsfeed because of static ip). No probs with these in v.0.47.2

i've used newsfeed with static and dhcp both and hasn't crashed once
now i'm using static only again with all 3 newsfeeds, still no crash

I can confirm that static IP and newsfeed ON works with my 1.1 Box on 4977 X2 BIOS.

But there's another prob: I have divided my Games into submenus (Sports, Racing, etc) and they won't show up in Ava 0.47.4 although I'm using the same configfile as for 0.47.3. Can anyone confirm this?

For me :

DHCP enable + Newsfeed ON = lock-up
DHCP enable + Newsfeed OFF = works
Static IP + NewsFeed ON = lock-up
Static IP + NewsFeed OFF = works

I hope that it can help Avalaunch Team.

me too for the newsfeed lockup. it worked b4 so i might just go back to the other version till this is fixed
