UUuuuhhh, I know how in Lightwave...
Try moving some points around till you smooth it out.

ok let me try to describe what Id do in light wave. Highlight the center ring of points and bust out a scale/size type of tool. shink the ring from the center untill it looks smooth.

Another way would be to delete the two rings of pollygons around the seam. then highlight the two rings of points and shrink them on the Y axis to 0%... pulling them together on the Y axis. merge the points and it should be fine.

BUT if those two ways dont work.
Like above delete the two rings around the seam. then copy either side's inside ring of points. Move the unattached points to the Y axis and hand make the pollygons.

^^^ If that way still doesnt work, then that's just one more reason for me to say 3DS max sucks. tongue.gif

By the way to fix that prob in light wave would be tab, ctrl+d. wink.gif

That's awesome how you got the cellwall to have corners with a new cell wall model...

Or is that just a trick of the texture? Nah!!! Not from gasclown...

and the orb model is a cube cellwall - kinda hard to get a decent screen but here the render:

hi, yeh ive tried all the appropriate primitives and a few others ;/ and once there mapped and put it into the dash most of em look shitty. with the cellwall, in my opinion, less is definately more.

problem with the dodech is that once tiled in dash you can barely see the sides.

oh, and vinster, ive borrowed and barstardized on some of yr old bg code for my skins so beerchug.gif to you!

Ok, got the orb ring workin in the hard drive menu...however im haveing a hard time getting it centered appropriately behind the orb.

hey la7, Have you tried it by commenting out the rotation values?

also a good trick when yr having trouble positioning something is to zero out its axis position in a 3d prog then convert back to xm and drop it in. a lot of the dash elements are off centre and centring will make yr job easier wink.gif

Yeah, I bet anything much more spherical than a box tongue.gif would lose its definition since you really only looking at a small portion of the entire model.

And glad to hear someone is making some use out of those old code snippets. I haven't really modified any code since JB announced XDN before UIX. Got kinda burned out and just wanted to play some games for a while. Once UIX comes out, I might try my hand at it again.

Anyways, keep up the awesome work!

Where can I get these skins? I've been to allxboxskins and there are only a few. Will the lite ones work with the original THC dash?

If your talking about the screens for my dash, its alot more than a skin. You would need the multiple xips making up the interface.

hehe, been a lotta braincells since i did anything with lite but customed this for a mate who seemingly has a lot of trouble refreshing menus in UIX lol. Its pm3 (sorta) for lite. has switchable bg's including the actual pm3 bg and etc and blah blah. no dl for this, if you really want it hit me up in the chan. Thanks to merde whose xbx's i robbed and choke who made the original image files.

I'm using a nice combination from parts of my skins and some parts from gasclown for almost two years now.
But there's a nice ASE exporter for Maya around that does not mess up the models so much...maybe I'll give it a try.
So If you use Maya you might want to try that out.
