you can put 5xboxdg.xbx, but if tou add some lines in the default.xap, you can add as many background as you want

Yep thats true becasue i currently have around 18 backgrounds in the sega themed dash, including Shen mue, Sonic, Virtua fighter, Jetset radio, Crazy taxi, and others

Cheers for the quick info, I haven't really looked into the code side of things. All I've done is found the basic info/tutorial to make my dash blue.

But this is cool news that you can have multiple backgrounds. But it also extends my question - can you have multiple other elements? Such as multiple colours schemes etc? So rather than just change backgrounds, you're effectively changing the whole dash scheme in one go....I would guess this is taking things too far, and it's not possible, but new things are always being discovered!

I have multiple colour schemes, it's quite easy really.

I have three folders xboxdashdata, xboxdashdatb and xboxdashdatc.

I then point different things to different named .xbe dash files that in turn point to the relevant folder for its xips.

No reason though why you couldn't use the same xboxdashdatb folder for all your colour patches, just make the xbe files different names for each colour you've made.

Then point different dashes and get things like xbmp, evox, etc to reset to a different coloured dash like orangedash.xbe, get what I mean ?

I use different directories for each dash as I play with the xips in each dashboard. This way you can play with your xips and still have a bootable box.

Basically you want to make the dash fully skinnable. I get what you mean and this would be VERY cool

I don't know know much about how it all works, but I don't see why not, if you have a seperate colour file, and write the code to switch to these different files.

Yes, I know. We are saying the same thing. I lump changing colors ect.. under my def of skinable, not just changing the background image. I also would say for something to be skinable it has to be something you can do on the fly (just pressing a button or 2)

using maes thing, when ever i boot it i get the normal m$ dash colors with jus the xbox replaced with the music thing, no skins wut so ever, pushin the right thumb stick dusnt do ne thing but pushing the right trigger or the left thumb stick brings me back to evox

Theres a little button at the top called search as BOTH of these questions have been asked many many times,

BUT as i am feeling in a good mood, use Fastxbx to view xbx files, and please dont ask where you can find bundler, this also has been covered many times,

as for making xbx, again use fastxbx to convert jpg or bmp etc etc into dds and dds into xbx, for loading screen you want xboxW.xbx and background image is called xboxbg.xbx BOTH of these are found in default.xip.

Fuckdb's awesome tool: Fastxbx can be found at www.xboxdash.net

alikaz > use WinXip to open up music2.xip extract the outline.xbx use fastxbx to convert it into a bmp then edit it to whatever you would like, then save, convert it back into xbx then insert, save and re-sign your dash, you can use (i think up to 3 sets of different outline files) each time you load the dash it loads up ALL of them, to which menu you access FIRST determains which set is used like this example :


THIS set is inside Music2.xip and makes ALL the outlines look like this if the music tab is the first one accessed

whilst
is set as my main Outline.xbx it gets used when i choose storage first,

but if you wanting to make them ALL the same, simply use the outline.xbx you created and replace all the other outline.xbx files you find inside various other xip files

since the preview function in hexbe doesn't work, how in the hell can you guys make them look so good. There are so many custamizable colors, how do you know what they are for? And does anybody know when preview will be possible with hexbe?

All menus is in Polish language without SELECT and BACK in Storage (ZBIORNICA) .

dunno what setup you are using, i used music easy config, and used fornorst code for more than one background.

Sure,i add my own Background in the pre-relaease of the new hacked dash and it works fine for me.

Here's an impression of my first skin for the MS Dash. I say that 'cause I can't take screenshots of the actual thing, so I'm just posting the backdrop. Imagine the new dash transparent orb over it and the usual menus etc, etc. Or I could email the dash to someone with the XDK ...

It's a WIP, by the way. Hope you like.
